WaGaLiGong co-founder Tienie Wessels, aka ‘The Vortex’, is a passionate food buff and poker player. He started traveling when he was 19 years old, spending time in London and Israel before ending up in Taiwan teaching English at first before starting up WaGaLiGong with Mark in 2013. Tienie runs the food and beverages side of the business and if he’s not in the kitchen conjuring up exotic marinades for the regular roadside ‘braais’ (barbeques) at WaGaLiGong, experimenting with cocktails behind the bar, or sweating away behind the pizza oven, he can be found late at night holding court on the ‘stoep’ (deck), playing poker or drinking with guests into the early hours. His new passion is making his own beer ‘WaGaliGong Lager’.
